89 year old, Wilmer R. Kooy, was called home to be with the Lord, on December 3, 2010.
On February 28, 1921, Wilmer was born to John and Winnie (nee: Swart) Kooy in DeMotte, Indiana. He graduated in 1939 from high school. He married Anna Mae Moolenaar on July 18, 1942, in DeMotte, Indiana. Wilmer was a Millwright at Indiana General in Valparaiso for 27 years. He was a charter member of the Community Bible Church of DeMotte. Wilmer and Anna Mae were owners of Kooy Blueberries for over 50 years. Wilmer also enjoyed gardening, especially caring for his blueberry bushes.
Wilmer is survived by his wife: Anna Mae, daughters: Joyce & George Gourko, and Nancy & Wayne “Calvin” Bovenkerk, 3 grandchildren: Pamela (Rick) Owen, Bradley Bovenkerk, and April (David) Gonzales, and 5 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law: Ruth Bonnema.
Wilmer was preceded in death by his parents: John and Winnie Kooy, brother: Jack Kooy, and sister: Marguerite Moolenaar.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, from 11:00 until 12:30 pm at the Community Bible Church of DeMotte. Services will take place at the church at 12:30 pm, on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, with Pastor Rodney Tolleson officiating with interment at the Holland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Bible Tracts, Inc. and the Community Bible Church.
Boersma Funeral Home of Wheatfield is in charge of arrangements.
