William J. 'Bill' Recker

84 year old, William ‘Bill’ Recker of DeMotte, passed away July 12, 2012 at his home with his loving family around him.

 

On September 15, 1927, William was born to William and Jessie (nee: Staal) Recker in Highland, Indiana. He graduated in 1945 from DeMotte High School. William married Corrine J. VanDyke on October 3, 1952 in Momence, Illinois. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the DeMotte American Legion Post 440, a Charter member of the HimSings for 26 years, and an Elder and Deacon at the First Christian Reformed Church of DeMotte. Bill also had a vegetable stand on the north side of the hill in DeMotte, where all were welcome to come and visit.

 

Bill is survived by his loving family consisting of wife: Corrine, sons: William G. (Debra) Recker, Garry (Cari) Recker, and daughter: Bonnie (Ike) Hoffman, and 8 grandchildren. Also surviving are: brother: James (Mary) Recker, and sister-in-laws: Connie Recker & Dorothy Recker.

 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, son: Jeffrey John Recker, brothers: Ahlrich Recker, Rev. Robert Recker, sister: Selma (Ray) Bierma.

 

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012, at the First Christian Reformed Church in DeMotte, Indiana. Services for William will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the church, with Pastor Laryn Zoerhof officiating and interment taking place in the Holland Cemetery, DeMotte, Indiana with Military Graveside rites.
