82 year old, Walter “Toby” Wantola passed away July 30, 2010 with his loving family with him.
On November 3, 1927, Toby was born to Rudolph and Roselia (nee: Kowalczyk) Wantola in Chicago, Illinois. On July 28, 1950, he married the love of his life, Thelma Fritz in Winamac, Indiana. Toby worked for Mayhew Grain and Coal and the Jasper County Highway Department. Toby and Thelma sold seed corn for Beck’s Hybrid Seeds for 28 years.
Toby served in the U S Army. Toby was a member of the Kniman United Methodist Church, and the American Legion Post #96 of Medaryville.
Toby is survived by children: Dennis (Rhonda) Wantola, Donna (Terry) Terborg-Hershman, and Joyce (Edward) Roehm, 7 grandchildren: Jill Terborg, Andrew Terborg, Jeffrey Terborg, Donald Wantola, Kelley Wantola, Christian Roehm and Alyssa Roehm, 2 great-grandchildren: Isaac Beilfuss and Ella Terborg. Also surviving are brother Leo Wantola and sister Emily Meyer.
Toby was preceded in death by his loving wife, Thelma, his parents, brother: Ted Wantola, and son-in-law: John Terborg.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, August 2, 2010 from 2:00 until 8:00 (CST) at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Toby will take place on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 10:00 (CST) with Rev. Al Smith officiating. Interment will take place at White Post Cemetery in Medaryville.
