81 year old, Vincent C. Hohner, of Tefft passed away September 15, 2008. He was born on January 23, 1927, in Tefft, Indiana to Martin and Catherine (nee: Rosencranz) Hohner.

 

On June 27, 1953, in Valparaiso, Indiana, he married Margaret O’Connor who preceded him in death November 3, 2002. To this union they were blessed with 5 boys: David (Peg) Hohner, Greg (Connie) Hohner, Brian (Sarah) Hohner, Mark (Maryna) Hohner, and Michael (Marla) Hohner. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Alexander, Matthew, Michael and Bradley, 1 sister: Barbara (Kenneth) Oser.

 

Vince’s graduating class from Tefft High School consisted of 4 girls and 3 boys. The three boys were inducted into military service prior to graduation, this prompted school officials to drape American flags over the three empty chairs at commencement.

 

Vince was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Pacific Theater as an MP. He served on Jasper County Farm Bureau Co-op (Agro-Key) Board of Directors for 33 years. He also served on Jasper County Board of zoning Appeals for 7 years, served on Jasper County FHA Loan Board for 6 years.

 

Vince was a member of the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church of Wheatfield, Winamac Old Auto Club, Wheatfield American Legion – Post 406. He was a lifelong self-employed farmer and electrician in the Wheatfield area, and he retired in 1989.

 

Vince was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

 

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, September 18, 2008 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a 4:00 p.m. Rosary at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana.

 

Mass for Vince will take place at the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church of Wheatfield, Indiana at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008, with Father William Spranger officiating. Interment will follow at the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Cemetery in Wheatfield.

 

Memorials may be given to Vincent’s Charities.
