Susan "Susie" Hammack

63 year old, Susie Hammack of Rensselaer, passed away August 4, 2011, with her loving family beside her after her courageous battle of 1½ years with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

On February 22, 1948, Susie was born to Thomas M. and Violet M (nee: Pauley) Hill in Hammond, Indiana. She attended Griffith schools.

Susie married the love of her life, Terry Hammack on March 25, 1967 in Schererville, Indiana

Susie was a homemaker, worked with stained glass for 35 years, and was an accomplished toll painter and quilter. She was a member of the Wheatfield Country Cut-ups. She was very passionate about her horses, dogs, and animals around her house.

Susie leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Terry, their two sons: David and Patrick; Patrick’s fiancé’ Jessica, and her two grandchildren Hayley and Catlin, brothers: Tom (Kathy) Hill and Randall (Kathy) Hill.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield. Services for Susie will take place on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Pauley officiating. Interment will take place in the Holland Cemetery, DeMotte, Indiana.
