Steve Hughes

72 year old, Steve Hughes of Wheatfield passed away September 2, 2017 with his loving family around him.

On July 1, 1945, Steve was born to Adie and Beulah (Landers) Hughes in Anniston, Alabama. Steve married the love of his life Sharon Adams on February 5th, 1964, in Burnham, Illinois. Steve worked as a Labor Supervisor for Local #81 out of Valparaiso.  Steve would have been a member of the Red Neck’s club. He loved dirt track racing, catfish fishing, working on cars and taking life easy.

Steve is survived by his loving family: Richard (Jodi) Hughes, Michael (Sheila) Hughes, Kimberly (Jeffrey) Kerkes, Steve E Hughes Jr., Selina Hughes, 11 grandchildren: Hannah, Leah, Lexi, Michelle, Mikey, Brandi (Jason), Christina (Dustin), Christopher, Cody, Stevie, Emma, 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews and dear friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Sharon, his parents, and 3 sisters, and 4 brothers.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Steve will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, September 7, 2017 with Father Paul Cochran officiating. Interment will follow at the Kankakee Township Cemetery.
