Sonya P Kingma

Sonya P. Kingma, age 85, of Fishers, Indiana, formerly of DeMotte, Indiana, passed away on April 8, 2025.

Sonya was born on May 7, 1939, to Andrew and Elizabeth (Sikma) Wognum in South Holland, Illinois. Sonya married Roy Kingma, in South Holland, Illinois, June 26, 1959.

Sonya was devoted wife and mother to her family. She also worked with her husband for many years at DeMotte Physicians and took pride in helping to manage the practice and to provide quality medical care to the community. Sonya attended church regularly and loved Jesus. She also enjoyed playing the piano, oil painting, reading, discussing politics and all things Dutch.

Sonya is survived by her children: Deb (Roy) Gouwens, Phillip (Wenda) Kingma, Paul (Melisssa) Kingma, 10 grandchildren: Luke, Kara, Leah Gouwens, Erin (Eason) Shaver, Courtney (Perry) Wolcott, Lindsey and Brandon Kingma, Ashlynn Huntwork, Benjamin and Elle Kingma, one great-grandchild: Samuel Shaver, brother: John (Michelle) Wognum, sisters: Susan (Michael) Silverstein, Kathleen (Rob) Schoonveld, and many nieces and nephews.

Sonya was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Roy, daughter: Karen, and brother: Don.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in DeMotte, Indiana. Interment will take place at the Holland Cemetery in DeMotte, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse or Bible League International.
