82 year old, Silas Hopkins of Rensselaer passed away August 22, 2022.

 

On February 24, 1940, Silas was born to Hargis and Myrtle (Allen) Hopkins, in Salyersville, Kentucky. He married the love of his life, Emily Mae Harris on August 8, 1959, in Jasper County, Indiana. Silas worked as a machine operator at General American for 23 years, and then worked for Talbert Manufacturing as a machine operator for 24 years. He also liked gardening.

 

Silas is survived by his children: Wade Hopkins, Bobby (Stephanie) Hopkins, Joe Hopkins, 6 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters: Beulah (Jim) McEwan, and Daisy (Delbert) Craft.

 

Silas was preceded in death by his wife: Emily Mae, sisters: Madge Williams, & Juanita Smith, brothers: Paul Hopkins, John Hopkins, Jr. Hopkins, Otto Hopkins.

 

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Silas will take place at the funeral home, on Friday with Pastor John Miller officiating, interment will follow at the Independence Cemetery, Medaryville, Indiana.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Schriner’s Children’s Hospital, or Riley’s Children’s Hospital.
