Sergeant R. Evans Taylor, age 28, was killed Friday, October 14, 2011, outside of Ft. Riley, Kansas, from an apparent homicide.
Evans was born in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas into a military family and had last resided in Wheatfield, Indiana prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army as a Medic X-Ray Technician where he performed 7000 X-rays. He served 2 tours in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom Operation Enduring Freedom and was scheduled to out-process and return home to Wheatfield, Indiana to be with his 5 year old son, Riley Evans Taylor.
Evans is survived by his son: Riley Evans Taylor, parents: LTC. (R) Allison and Richard Keeley; sister: Tiffany (Brandon) Graf; brothers: Alexander (Alisa) Taylor, and Hans (Nicole) Taylor; grandmother: Armida Sharpin; nephews: Cody and Logan; nieces: Mara and Elise; and numerous friends and associates.
Evans will receive full military escort by his friend SGT. Nick Zeilenga, the Patriot Guard, and the Freedom Riders.
Evans lived an active life through his skateboarding, DJ Gumby, snowboarding, Summit Auto Racing, Bob Marley, man, all the pretty ladies and the puppies. Evans was a good man, father, son, soldier, and was a devoted son of Baby Jesus.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana.
Services for SGT. R. Evans Taylor will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 12:00 (noon) at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana, with family officiating.
Per SGT. Taylor’s wishes cremation will take place.
