Ruth Hoyes

82 year old, Ruth Hoyes of Rensselaer, passed away April 9, 2014.

On December 30, 1931, Ruth was born to Samuel and Effie (Fairchild) Burroughs in Monon, Indiana. Ruth graduated from Monon High School in 1949, and married the love of her life, Floyd ‘Snook’ Hoyes on February 12, 1950 in Monon, Indiana. Ruth worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Superintendent’s office at Rensselaer Schools for 30+ years. She retired in 1992. Ruth was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Rensselaer, the Ladies Literary, and the Eastern Star.

Ruth is survived by her children: Steven Hoyes (girlfriend: Cindy May), Terri (Eldon) Dalton, Kathy Thompson (boyfriend: Gene Haughen), 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, her parents: Samuel & Effie, and one infant sister.

The family would be happy to see their friends at a casual celebration of life at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Rensselaer, Indiana from 2:00 until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014. A private family only burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jasper County Hospice.
