Robert 'Bob' L. Schlarp

Robert Lee Schlarp (Bob), age 84,of DeMotte,  passed away on July 25, 2020.

Bob was born on November 27, 1935 in East Chicago, Indiana to Crist and Mildred (Paulik) Schlarp. Bob married the love of his life, Shirley Seegers on August 21, 1959 in DeMotte, Indiana. They were married for 60 years.

Bob graduated from DeMotte High School in 1954. He broke the scoring record in 6 man football, while in High School in total scoring points, his senior year. He played on the only undefeated 6 man football team DeMotte High School ever had. He is listed in the United States 6 Man Football book.

Bob was a SP-4 in the U.S. Army and drove a tank while in Germany. He was a Member of the Local 150 Operating Engineers – Heavy Equipment. Bob was also a member of the American Legion Post 440. He enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening, hunting, and trap shooting.

Bob is survived by his wife: Shirley.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, son: Robert L. Schlarp, Jr (2018), and brother Roy Schlarp.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Bob will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Hill officiating. Interment will follow at the Holland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jasper County Veterans or Donor’s Choice.
