Rich Myers

Richard W. Myers, age 92, passed away peacefully in his home in Wheatfield, Indiana on January 24, 2007.  He was born in Riley, Indiana on December 1, 1914 to Emory Cecil and Olive Florence (Larison) Myers who preceded him in death.  

    On December 7, 1940, Richard married Doris B. Frame, who survives.  Richard is also survived by their four children, Connie (Roger) Timm of Moscow, Texas, Stanley (Connie) Myers of Monterey, Indiana, Bonnie (Bill) Zimmer and Lana (Tom) Zimmer of Rensselaer.  In addition, Richard is survived by fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Dino.  Richard was preceded in death by his brothers Herbert Larison and Estel Myers.

    A lifetime resident of the Wheatfield area, Richard graduated from Tefft High School in 1932.  Although he was a farmer all of his life, he also drove a school bus, was a rural mail carrier, drove a worker’s bus to the steel mills during WWII, and served twenty-five years as a supervisor at Youngstown Sheet and Tube in East Chicago, Indiana from where he retired in 1977. 

    The family will receive family and friends at the Boersma Funeral Home in Wheatfield, IN on Friday, January 26, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, at 10:00 a.m. CST at Boersma Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Gear officiating. 

   Interment will follow at Wheatfield Cemetery in Wheatfield, Indiana.  Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Animal Shelter.
