90 year old, Miriam Hope Lawyer of Wheatfield, passed away July 25, 2012.
On January 12, 1922, Miriam was born in Jasper County Indiana to Oscar and Clara (nee: Dunn) Stembel. Miriam attended Valparaiso University and married Charles Homer Lawyer (who precedes her). She taught students to play the piano for many years. She also was an organist for 60+ years at the Wheatfield Baptist Church. Miriam was a member of the Friends of the Library.
Miriam is survived by four children: Terry (Freda) Lawyer, Andrew (Leslie) Lawyer, Penny (Tom) Bryant and Samantha (Bob) Hocker, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are sister: Donille (Benny) Hoebel and sister-in-law: Jean Lawyer.
Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, daughter Katherine Rose, granddaughter Jeannie Sanders, grandson Richard Sanders, and great-grandson Greg Sanders.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Miriam will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with Pastor Don Gear officiating. Interment will take place at the Wheatfield Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be given to: Wheatfield Baptist Church, Wheatfield Friends of the Library, and Wheatfield Food Pantry.
