Matthew 'Poke' Shepperd

60 year old, Matthew ‘Poke’ Shepperd, of Medaryville, passed away November 22, 2022 with his family around him.

On January 28, 1962, Poke was born to Vennis and Irene (Cegielski) Shepperd, in Sparta, Illinois. Poke was co-owner of his tree service. He liked to visit Blue Chip & 4 Winds often. He also liked to play gin, poker, slot machines, and black-jack. He liked to fish, coon hunt, and trap. At one time he was a WCW wrestling star, Sensational Matt Shepperd.

Poke is survived by his loving family: daughter: Tiffany (Greggory) Heinisch, grandchildren: Aiyana Heinisch, Ezekiel Heinisch, siblings: Michael Shepperd, Mark (Diane) Shepperd, Susie Rater, Perry (Betty) Shepperd, Sherry Shepperd, and several nieces and nephews.

Poke was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Daniel Shepperd, David Shepperd, brother-in-law: Leroy Rater, niece: Sabrina Shepperd, and great-niece: Kylee Whitrock.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. (EST) on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana.

Services for Poke will take place at the funeral home, at 11:00 a.m. (EST) on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 with Rev. Greggory Heinisch officiating. Interment will follow at the White Post Cemetery, Medaryville, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers donations are requested for the family.
