Matthew R. Hunter

52 year old, Matthew R. Hunter of Wheatfield, passed away June 8, 2017 at his home with his loving family and friends around him.

On May 5, 1965, Matt was born to Horace ‘Babe’ and Jean (Scott) Hunter in Valparaiso, Indiana.  Matt graduated from Kankakee Valley High School in 1983, and married the love of his life Maribeth Allen on September 17, 1983 in Wheatfield. Matt enjoyed life, family & friends, and especially his granddaughters. He attended the Tefft United Methodist Church, was a member of the Wheatfield Masonic Lodge 642, H.O.G., served on the BZA Board for the town of Wheatfield, and the Jasper County Fair Board.

Matt is survived by his loving family: wife: Maribeth, son: Michael (Brittany) Hunter, granddaughters: Abigail & Aubree Hunter, mother: Jean, siblings: Kim (Mitch) Orsburn, Jay (Cindy) Hunter, Kelli (Paul) Schroeder, Tracey (Steve) Doniger, Chris (Kristie) Hunter, many nieces and nephews.

Matt was preceded in death by his father: Horace ‘Babe’ Hunter.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 until 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Tefft United Methodist Church, Tefft, Indiana.

Services for Matt will take place at the church at 6:30 p.m. with Pastor Dave Patterson officiating.

Per Matt’s wishes cremation will follow.
