Matthew Allen Gouwens

8 month old, Honorary Fire Fighter Matthew Allen Gouwens, of Wheatfield passed away August 18, 2009 at Riley Children’s Hospital from a rare disorder of the immune system called HLH. 

On November 29, 2008, Matthew was born to Fire Fighter Brian A. Gouwens and Mary Lucille Bowen Rippe.

Surviving are his loving parents: Brian A. Gouwens and Mary Lucille Bowen Rippe; grandparents: Lillian Bowen and Keith & Janice Gouwens; great-grandparents: Patsy Gouwens and Melvin & Marilyn Qunell.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harold Bowen.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove Street, Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Matthew will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Friends & Family officiating. Interment will take place at the Cemetery of the Resurrection, in DeMotte, Indiana.
