Mary "Bird" Bruechet

87 year old, Mary M. “Bird” Bruechet, of Lake Village, passed away at her home with her loving family around her.

 

On February 8, 1923, Mary was born to Melvin F. “Bunk” and Myrtle Bell (nee: Elliott) Shelhart in Gifford, Indiana. Mary was a lifetime area resident.

 

On October 30, 1939, she married Donald Lawson Bruechet in Rensselaer, Indiana. Mary worked for White Sign Manufacturing in Shelby, and ran a Post Tribune route for many years. She also mowed the Roselawn Cemetery. Mary also worked at Uncle John’s Flea Market for 20 years.

 

Mary is survived by her 3 daughters: Joanne Swart, Bonita Bruechet, and Patricia Brown, 10 grandchildren: Diana & Andy Boersma, Dale Swart, Kerry & Jeff Maddox, Kathy Fiest, Kim & Brian Welsh, Richard & Tanya Bruechet, Keith Jansen, Norman & Valerie Brown, Korina & Steve Martin, and Quinten & Valarie Brown, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother: John W. (Jan) Shelhart,0 and many nieces and nephews.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Donald L. Bruechet, sons: Donald Lee Bruechet and Richard Francis Bruechet, son-in-laws: Warren Swart and Norman L. Brown Sr., parents: Melvin and Myrtle Shelhart, sisters: Grace Shelhart and Sadie “Cap” Mosley.

 

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, August 9, 2010 from 3:00 until 8:00 PM at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Mary will take place on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Boersma Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Roselawn Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the DeMotte Trinity Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
