Margaret Winter

79 year old, Margaret Winter of DeMotte, passed away February 11, 2020, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, with her loving family around her.

On May 10, 1940, Margaret was born in Dresden, Germany to Erich and Lily Loechner. Margaret married the love of her life, Horace (Horst) Winter in Glen Park, Gary, Indiana on July 8, 1961. Margaret worked for US Steel, WalMart, and especially like being the Hostess of the Gary Works Supervisor’s Club. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, playing bingo, and watching Law & Order. She is known for her special mashed potatoes.

Margaret is survived by her loving family, husband: Horace, children: Bridget (Jack) Goudy, Eric Winter, Paul Winter, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and sister: Edith McNeil.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, grandson: Jacob, granddaughter: Courtney, sister: Rosemary Hoekstra, and brother: Horst Loechner.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020, at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services will take place at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Carl Rose officiating.

Per Margaret’s wishes cremation will follow.
