85 year old, Macklin D. McMurphy of Minooka, Illinois, formerly of Atlanta, Michigan, passed away March 16, 2018 at the LaSalle Veteran’s Home, LaSalle, Illinois.
On October 22, 1932, Macklin was born to Arzie and Vera (Stockton) McMurphy in Dickersburg, Illinois. Macklin served in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Patricia Jefferson on December 31, 1970 at the Wheatfield Baptist Church. Macklin worked as a millwright for 34 years. He was an avid golfer, liked fishing, gardening, baseball, working with churches, replacing roofs, helped build churches, cut wood for elderly, and do house repairs for church members. He was a member of the church choir and was in a church trio, the Backwoods Boys.
Macklin is survived by his wife: Patricia, daughter: Regina (Larry) LoBue, and granddaughter: Alyssa (Mike) Jensen.
Macklin was preceded in death by his parents: Arzie & Vera, daughter: Maria McMurphy, brother: Bill McMurphy, and sister: Vanita Lewis.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Macklin will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Don Gear officiating, interment will follow at the Wheatfield Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.
