Lena Prater

66 year old, Lena Prater of DeMotte, passed away January 4, 2018.

On November 7, 1951, in Jasper County, Indiana, Lena was born to Willis and Susie (Bailey) Neeley. Lena married the love of her life, Chillie Prater Jr., on July 31, 1967 in Kouts, Indiana by Pastor Thurman Wireman. Lena attended Roselawn Victory Baptist Church, of Roselawn, Indiana. Lena worked for Kankakee Valley Schools as a sweeper for many years. Lena loved her flower garden, especially day lilies.

Lena is survived by her loving family husband: Chillie, children: Shelly (Deryel) Bullard, Vicki Prater, Chillie (Brooke) Prater III, 6 grandchildren, 3 + great-grandchildren, siblings: Bob (Charlotte) Neeley, Mildred Layne, Betty (Melvin) Wireman, Polly (Tony) Cooper, and Mable (Donnie) Oliver.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents: Willis & Susie, son: Kelly Prater, siblings: Ronald Neeley, James Neeley, Willard Neeley, Irene Neeley, and Sally Pigg.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Roselawn Victory Baptist Church, Roselawn, Indiana.  Services for Lena will take place at the church at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, with Pastor Ballard Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at the Roselawn Cemetery.
