70 year old, Lee Roy Stansberry, of Wheatfield, passed away October 15, 2005, at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso, Indiana. On July 22, 1935, he was born to Robert Spencer and Lenos (nee: Guinn) Stansberry in Neva, Tennessee. On June 11, 1958, he married Sonja Stanton at the Wheatfield Baptist Church. Roy retired in 1976 as a Chief Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. After retiring Roy enjoyed working with his father-in-law, Truman “Pappy” Stanton. He also worked at Consolidated Fabricators, Inc. He was a Master Mason, a member of the American Legion 406, and he also was a past building commissioner for the Town of Wheatfield.
Roy is survived by his wife, Sonja, 3 daughters, Lynn (Tim) Brusnahan, Valorie Stansberry, and Aleta (Garry) Hershman, 1 son, Cameron Stansberry, 5 grandchildren, 1 brother, George Mack Stansberry, 5 sisters, Ruth Leady, Kay (Booten) Whitaker, Judy Cole, Betty Garling, and Sue Craft.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Friends are invited to visit with the family, Saturday, October 22, 2005 from 9:00 am until 11:30 am at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield. Services for Roy will be at 11:30 am Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Boersma Funeral Home. Internment will be at the Wheatfield Cemetery.
