Larry Gene Meppelink, age 62, of Wheatfield, Indiana was taken suddenly to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 7, 2008. Larry was born in Iowa to John and Bertha Mepplelink on June 3, 1946. Larry attended Lansing Christian School and graduated from Illiana Christian High School in Lansing, Illinois. On February 12, 1969 Larry was married to Barbara (nee: Kamminga) at the Christian Reformed Church of DeMotte.
During their 39 years of marriage they were blessed with three children: Kimberly, Shelli, and Ryan. Larry has two sisters: Mary (Ernie) Crabbes and Joy (Jack) Van Schouwen. Larry was the most proud of his 4 grandchildren: Kyan Meppelink, Rylie, Kacie, and Lynzie Hoffman of Wheatfield, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth and beautiful daughter Kimberly.
He was the owner/operator of Ryan Transportation, a member of the American Reformed Church of DeMotte, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, taking care of his family, and most of all time with his grandchildren.
Larry will be celebrating this Christmas with his daughter Kimberly who was called home to Heaven this past May of 2008.
Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Thursday, December 11, 2008, from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the American Reformed Church in DeMotte, Indiana with Pastor Dan Jelsma officiating. Interment will take place at the Holland Cemetery, DeMotte, Indiana.
