80 year old, Lawrence ‘Larry’ Marchi, of Wheatfield, passed away December 10, 2022, at his home.
On September 10, 1942, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Larry, was born to Angelo and Clelia (Menconi) Marchi. He graduated from high school. Larry played amateur baseball until he was injured. He worked as a machine operator at a factory by McCormick Place. Larry also worked at NIPSCO as a security guard. Larry met a lot of famous people, George Burns, Sami Davis Jr., Mahamid Ali, Hugh Heffner, which he actually went to the play boy mansion. He sat next to basketball Coach Bobbie Knight and was invited to his house. Larry was married to Carol Kutcha, who battled breast cancer for many years, and preceded him in death. Larry never had any children of his own, but he was the best step-father to Richie, Ronnie, and Mary. Larry loved sports, especially the Bears, whether they won or not. Larry thought very highly of Rick Ferguson, who would visit every Sunday to watch the Bears lose. Larry was a hard-working.
Larry is survived by his loving family: step-children: Mary Skicora, Ronald Cizunas, step-grandchildren: Becca, Elizabeth, Ricky & Mac, and many nieces & nephews, sister-in-law: Sarah Fugate, and brother-in-law: Jerry (Fran) Kutcha.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife: Carol, parents, step-son: Richie Cizunas and half-sister: Anita Marchi.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Larry will take place at the funeral home that evening at 6:30 p.m. with Family & Friends Officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois.
