John Van Keppel

86 year old, John H. Van Keppel, of DeMotte, passed away September 19, 2023 at his home.

John was born to Cornelius and Jane (van de Graf) Van Keppel, on July 29, 1937, in DeMotte, Indiana. He was a DeMotte High School graduate, class of 1955. John married the love of his life, Barbara S. Terpstra, on January 30, 1960, at the DeMotte United Methodist Church. He was a builder with much of his work focused on brick and cement masonry. John bricked the west wall in the DeMotte United Methodist Church, that supports the cross. John enjoyed golfing. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, especially the Cubs, Bears, and IU.

John is survived by his loving family: wife: Barbara, children: Michael (Cindy) Van Keppel, Gary (Jennifer) Van Keppel, grandson: Austin, step-grandchildren: Katie & Cody Jones, and sister: Helen Schultz.

John was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Vicki Lynn, son: Tucker, and brothers: Gerrit, Barney, Cornelius Jr., sisters: Marie Burback, Connie Noteboom, Jane Van Oort, and Elizabeth Kingma.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the DeMotte United Methodist Church, DeMotte, Indiana. Services for John will take place at the church on Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gaylynn Dykman officiating.

Interment will follow at the DeMotte Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the DeMotte United Methodist Church.
