John L Takacs Jr.

72 year old, John Louis Takacs Jr., of DeMotte, passed away January 16, 2023 at his home in DeMotte, Indiana.

John was born on February 7, 1950, to John Louis Sr., and Agnes (Nagel) Takacs in Rensselaer, Indiana. He married the love of his life, Linda Rothermel, on November 23, 1968, in Cecilia Catholic Church, DeMotte, Indiana. He worked at U.S. Steel for 32 years, and retired at age 51. He enjoyed restoring International Harvester tractors with his brother Dave, and gardening. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

John is survived by his loving family, wife: Linda, children: Ann (Pat) Sanders, John L (Nellie) Takacs III, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, siblings: Joan (Ed) Gulbransen, Dave (Donna) Takacs, and Ann Roadruck.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Mary (Rich) Caldanaro, and brother-in-law: Mike Roadruck.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, January 20, 2023, at St. Celicia Parish, DeMotte, Indiana. Mass will take place on Friday, at 12:00 a.m. (noon) with Fr. Michael McKinney officiating. Interment will follow at the Cemetery or the Resurrection Cemetery, DeMotte, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
