John "Uncle John" Mihai

Age 81, died October 29, 2010, after a battle with cancer.  He was under the wonderful care at home with the Jasper County Hospice during the last two weeks of life. John was born August 26, 1929, in Sofronea, Romania. He immigrated to the USA in 1950, living in the Detroit area for most of his life. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and proudly carried his honorable discharge papers with him at all times.  He was lovingly known to everyone as Uncle John.  He loved children and was known to indulge those children closest to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers (in Romania).  He is survived by his brother Dimitrie of Arad, Romania, and nieces and nephews in Romania and Denmark, as well as many cousins.  The last years of his life were lived with his cousin Gabriela (Van Eck) and family.  Private service and burial for family.  Interment at the Holland Cemetery, DeMotte.
