John J. Dykhuizen

92 year old, John J. Dykhuizen, of Fair Oaks, passed away January 22, 2022, with his loving family around him.


On November 30, 1929, John was born to John and Cornelia (Smit) Dykhuizen in South Holland, Illinois. He attended Fair Oaks schools. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Hoffman on July 19,1949, at the ‘Dutch Corner’ Church of DeMotte, where Rev. Dolphin officiated the marriage. John and his siblings enjoyed singing at weddings and funerals. John was a farmer and a charter member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, of DeMotte.

John is survived by his loving family, children: Dave Dykhuizen, Bernie (Carolyn) Dykhuizen, Barb (Roger) Liersch, Janet Dykhuizen, Gloria (Jim) Barrera, Ruth (Bill) Dean, 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and sister: Evelyn Koster.

John was preceded in death by his loving wife: Evelyn, parents, sisters: Alberdena Hoffman, Martha Hamstra, and Marie Hamstra, and infant sister: Margorie.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for John will take place at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Dr. Stephan Van Eck officiating. Interment will follow at the Holland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Trinity Presbyterian Church or The Gideons.
