John Burks

79 year old, John P. Burks, of Wheatfield, passed away on June 26, 2024 at Northwest Health Porter.

On January 5, 1945, John was born to Elbert Burks and Mary Peronis in Harrisburg, Illinois. He graduated from Glen Park High School, and served in the United States Army as a Medical Corpsman from 1965 until 1968. John was a master mechanic and maintenance supervisor for NIPSCO. He married the love of his life, Cindy Potts, on October 15, 1993 in Fort Myers, Florida. John was a member of the American Legion Post #0029 in Rensselaer, Indiana. He loved to be outside, doing yardwork, classic cars, going to car shows, and drinking sweet tea.

 John is survived by his loving wife: Cindy, children: Pam (Jerry) Flanigan, Tim Burks, Liz (Ron) Webster, Kelly (Joe) Neira, Jennifer (Adam) Naughton, Sean Montgomery, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

 John was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Ronald Burks, sister: Doris Cox, daughter: Missy Williams, granddaughter: Kayleigh Naughton, and his faithful companion: Diesel the pitbull.

 Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for John will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024 with Pastor Gaylynn Dykman officiating.

 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
