John S Bowen

87 year old, John S. Bowen, of DeMotte passed away March 22, 2005, at the Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village.  He was born January 1, 1918 to John S. Bowen and Mabel (nee Confer) Bowen in Monongahela, Pennsylvania.  On October 25, 1941, in Donara Pennsylvania, he married his loving wife Betty Rae, who preceded him in death on May 30, 2002.  John was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army stationed in Guam. John was also laborer for National Steel Midwest Division for 18 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Elwood) Smith, grandchildren Russell (Melissa) Smith, Dawn Smith & fiancé Rick Gilbert, Richard (Aimee) Smith, David (Gay) Smith, Susan Hayes, and Melissa (Stephen) McMahan and 21 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great-Great-Granchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Rae, 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, March 25, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove Street, Wheatfield, In.  Services for John S. Bowen will be held at the Boersma Funeral Home on Friday, March 25, 2005 at 1:00 p.m.  Officiating will be Pastors Lary Sakel and Dave Buche. Internment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Indiana.
