82 year old, Jerome ‘Jerry’ Brzycki, of DeMotte, passed away February 19, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
On August 9, 1940, Jerry was born to Harry and Clara (Urbaniak) Brzycki, in Chicago, Illinois. He received a bachelors degree from St. Joseph’s College, in Rensselaer, and worked as the plant manager for Republic Steel in Chicago. Jerry served in the United States Marine Corps. Jerry married Tomi (Tompkins) on June 21, 1997, in Kouts, Indiana. Jerry volunteered at Hilltop House in Valparaiso helping give free meals to underserved community members. He loved sports, golf, and especially baseball where he was a pitcher in the AAA minor league, with the Boston Red Sox. His favorite sports teams were the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, and the Chicago Bulls. He coached all of the sports his children were in. Jerry loved being outside, with his family and traveling. Jerry taught Sunday School, and was a church elder.
Jerry is survived by his loving family: wife: Tomi, children: Peter (Kris) Brzycki, Mark Brzycki, Sue (Kurt) Peterson, Adam Brzycki, Abby Kaeb, Caitlin (David) Evans, 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and siblings: Lenny (Mary) Brzycki, Nancy (Tom) Ritchie, and Madeline Malak.
Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife: Betty Brzycki, parents, infant brother: Andrew, brother: Rick Brzycki.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (noon - CST) on February 25, 2023, at the First Reformed Church, Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Jerry will take place at the church on Saturday, at 12:00 p.m. (noon - CST) with Grant Allen officiating. Military rites will follow.
Per Jerry’s wishes cremation will take place.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Reformed Church or to plant a tree in Jerry's name.
