Jared Jon Poortinga

36 year old, Jared Jon Poortinga of Fair Oaks, passed away unexpectedly on February 12, 2016.

On July 6, 1979, Jared was born to Raymond and Cindy (Lagastee) Poortinga in Hammond, Indiana. Jared married Kari Azkoul on February 24, 2007 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a carpenter by trade and worked for VL Construction. He was a member of Community Christian Reformed Church, Roselawn, Indiana.

Jared is survived by his loving family: wife: Kari, son: Timothy, parents: Raymond & Cindy Poortinga, sister: Jody (Craig) Hill, grandparents: Frieda Bierma, Ruth (Ralph) Johnson, and Robert (Bonnie) Azkoul, and Kari’s parents: Jeff & Emily Azkoul.        

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Community Christian Reformed Church, Roselawn, Indiana. Celebration of life services for Jared will take place on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jim Busscher officiating. Interment was prior to services in the Holland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Church.
