Janice E. Barger

70 year old, Janice E. Barger, of Wheatfield passed away October 25, 2008.

On October 6, 1938 she was born to Herbert and Inez (nee: Forsbert) Walther in Hammond, Indiana. Jan was educated at the Fair Oaks schools. Jan worked as the owner/operator of Wheafield Beauty Cottage in Wheatfield for 50 years. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of DeMotte, and previously a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church from her birth until 1975. She served as an officer in the Women’s AGLOW from 1979 until 1992, and she also served on the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League from 1985 until 1998.

She is survived by her children: Lyn (John) Thomas, Gary (Tessa) Barger, and Nichole (Jason) Barger-Neff, grandchildren: Derek, Brooke, Steven, Jason, Sophia, and Kai. Also surviving is special friend Adolph Yankaukas, and former husband Frank Barger.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, October 31, 2008 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Jan will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church of DeMotte, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2008, with Pastor Raebel officiating. Interment will take place at the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
