82 year old, Henry D. Vander Wall, of DeMotte, passed away May 2, 2024 with his loving family around him.
On April 24, 1942, in Hammond, Indiana, Henry was born to Duurt and Cornelia ‘Kay’ (Zeldenrust) Vander Wall. He graduated from Illiana High School. Henry married the love of his life, Marlene De Mick, on February 9, 1962, in South Holland, Illinois. He was a founding member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church, where he served as both Elder and Deacon. Henry was a self-employed farmer. He enjoyed taking care of his wife, and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed farming, and watching the White Sox baseball games.
Henry is survived by his loving family: wife Marlene, children: Daniel (Danah) Vander Wall, Douglas (Dee) Vander Wall, Donald (Tracy) Vander Wall, David (Valerie) Vander Wall, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren and sister: Carol Jabaay.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, and brother-in-law: Ronald Jabaay.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 521 S. Halleck St., DeMotte, Indiana.
Services for Henry will take place at the church at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Donald Vander Wall officiating. Interment will follow at the Holland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Elim Christian School or Samaritan’s Purse.
