Helen J. DeKock

86 year old, Helen J DeKock, of DeMotte, passed away September 5, 2018 with her loving family around her.

On October 13, 1931, in Lansing, Illinois Helen was born to Albert and Jeanette (Slager) Derks. On April 14, 1950, she married Henry ‘Hank’ DeKock in Lansing, Illinois, and moved to the DeMotte area. Helen enjoyed being a homemaker and driving school bus for the Kankakee Valley School Corporation for many years. She was a member of the American Reformed Church, and the Home Ec. Club.

Helen is survived by her children: Henry (Pat) DeKock, Kenny (Jennifer) DeKock, Larry (Judy) DeKock, Bonnie (Rob) Veden, Brenda (Ray) Jamieson, 15 grandchildren, 39 Great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister: Janell Regnerus, brothers: Albert (Shirley) Derks, Robert (Eleanor) Derks, sister-in-laws: Hassie Derks and Cathy Derks and brother-in-law: Ed Gritters.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband: Hank, 2 brothers: Richard & Milton, 1 sister: Kathryn, and great-grandson: Nicholas Tysen

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at the American Reformed Church of DeMotte. Services for Helen will take place at the church at 12:00 (noon) with Pastor Troy Nanninga officiating. Interment will follow at the Holland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family for the DeMotte Christian School.
