Harry Bierma

84 year old, Harry L. Bierma, passed away unexpectedly June 5, 2008 at his home.

On September 1, 1923 in Platte, South Dakota, Harry was the third child born to Cornelius and Effie (nee: Tillema) Bierma.  He graduated from Wheatfield High School, Wheatfield, IN.  On December 1, 1949, he married Jean Jonkman in Momence, IL.  Harry was self-employed for 48 years as an upholsterer.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; 5 daughters, Mary Kay (Thomas) Hamstra, Judi (Doug) DeYoung, Carol (Tim) Hilton, Joyce (Randy) Thomason, Stacey (Tom Jr.) Brown; 1 son, Wayne Bierma; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Arthur (Virginia) Bierma; 1 sister, “Sis” Longstreth.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Effie; four brothers, Nick, Edward, John, and Marvin Bierma.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, June 8, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana.  Services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church, DeMotte, Indiana with Pastor Laryn Zoerhoff officiating.

Interment will take place at the Wheatfield Cemetery, Wheatfield, Indiana.

Memorials may be given to the Gideons or donor’s choice.
