81 year old, George Bogan of Knox, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away June 14, 2013.
On January 3, 1932, George was born to Nickolai and Anna (nee: Homek) Bogan in Clevelend, Ohio. George became a U.S. Marine in 1949, and he entered in to active service on January 6, 1949. He made Cpl. on March 17, 1952, and ended his tour of service on October 1, 1952. George’s Marine Unit received a Presidential Unit Citation to the 1st Marine Division for extraordinary heroism against aggressive forces in Korea. He became a pipe fitter for Republic Steel in Ohio.
George is survived by his children: George A. Bogan, Margaret (Thomas) Barcus, William (Donna) Bogan, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and brother Robert Bogan.
Per George’s wishes cremation will take place and he will be interred at Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio, on June 26, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. EST with full military honors.
Boersma Funeral Home, Wheatfield, Indiana is in charge of the arrangements.
