Gene S Knudsen

74 year old, Gene S. Knudsen, of DeMotte, passed away on January 26, 2025, due to complications with pneumonia for the last 3 months.

On September 28, 1950, Gene was born to Eugene Knudsen and Gladys (Cox) Bixenman, in Chicago, Illinois. He spent his life as an auto body technician, 25 years at B&E in Valpo, Scott’s Autobody in DeMotte, and he spent his last few years working at Southlake Auto Body in Merrillville. Gene married the love of his life, Pam on March 3, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of the DeMotte Legion Post 440, Sons of the Legion. Gene loved working on cars, doing home improvements, and doing yard work. He was known for his infectious laugh, and could make friends everywhere.

Gene is survived by his wife: Pam, children: Joe Knudsen, Michelle (John) Alvarez, Steve (Sheri) Trawczynski, grandsons: Max, Jack, Dominic, Nathan, siblings: Mike (Eva) York, Pat York, Linda Jones, Betsy (Andy) Tanzillo, and father-in-law: Mike Morrow.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Dave York, and Leroy York.

Per Gene’s wishes cremation will take place.

In Gene’s memory, raise a glass, he loved his Miller Light.
