Gene Helton

81 year old, Eugene ‘Gene’ Helton of Wheatfield passed away June 28, 2015 with his loving family around him.

On April 20, 1934 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky Gene was born to Anderson and Lauda (Bailey) Helton. On July 18, 1952 Gene married the love of his life Hazel Park in Rensselaer, Indiana. Gene worked for Ford Motor Company for 31 years. He was a member of the UAW #588 and attended the Wheatfield Penticostal Church of God in Wheatfield.

Gene is survived by his loving family: wife: Hazel, children: Linda Helton, Rodney (Leanne) Helton, Lori (Brad) Wray, Lisa (Tim) Witkowski, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brother: Vernon (Grace) Helton and many nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents: Anderson & Lauda, 5 brothers: Cecil, Bert, Robbie, Bennie, & Hobart, 3 sisters: Marie, Sadie & Susie.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove Street, Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Gene will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Wheatfield Cemetery.
