77 year old, Gary A. Kocan, of Wheatfield, passed away July 16, 2023, with his loving family around him.

 

Gary was born on December 1, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, to Anthony and Evelyn (Bennett) Kocan. Gary served in the U.S. Navy, after graduating from high school. On December 26, 1978, Gary married the love of his life, Berni Grzych, in Crown Point, Indiana. Gary liked bowling and fishing. He enjoyed watching stock car races at Shady Hill. He and Berni enjoyed taking cruises. His one of his favorite surprises to Berni was buying her new cars.

 

Gary is survived by his loving family: wife: Berni, children: Todd Kocan, Toby (Michelle) Kocan, Shane (Dawn) Horsley, Sharise (Jeston) Smith, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and sister: Donna Sharp.

 

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

 

 

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield. Graveside services for Gary will take place at 12:00 p.m. (noon) with Pastor Craig Smith officiating, at the Cemetery of the Resurrection, DeMotte, Indiana, with Military Graveside rites.

 

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Full Gospel Tabernacle Church.
