Emily C. Duttlinger

93 year old, Emily C. Duttlinger of Wheatfield, passed away June 29, 2017 at her home loving family around her.

Emily Catherine Duttlinger was born November 10, 1923, to Stanley and Mary (Aksamit) Burke. She graduated in 1941 from Emerson High School, in Gary, Indiana and has lived in Wheatfield, Indiana since that time. She married Harold Louis Duttlinger on February 16, 1952, who preceded her in death on September 2, 1997.

Emily took great joy in her role of wife and mother, as she partnered with Harold in operating their family farm. She was a devoted member of Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church, generously supporting the many ministries and projects of the church, including playing the organ for many years, as a leader in the Altar Rosary Sodality, and a cherished member of the Sorrowful Mother prayer group. She loved spending time with family, was an avid reader, and enjoyed porcelain painting. She had an abiding love of country that she shared with her children and grandchildren, and demonstrated, daily, through her championing of patriotic causes and following current events.

Emily is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Thomas Kearney, and her children: Dr. Christine Duttlinger, James (Elizabeth Miracle) Duttlinger, Janice Duttlinger, Marcy (James Sosnoski) Duttlinger, Sharon Duttlinger, and Diana (Michael) Molon. Seven grandchildren who survive her are: Stanley (Suzanna) Duttlinger, Melanie Duttlinger, Sarah Duttlinger, Gabriel Duttlinger, Adam Molon, Erin (John) Maniatis, and Andrew Molon. She was also blessed with four great grandchildren who survive her: Rylee, Lucas and Annabeth Duttlinger, and John “Jack” Maniatis. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Josephine Burke and Vicki Burke, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Emily was also preceded in death by: her parents, Stanley and Mary Burke, brothers Edward and Robert Burke, infant grandson Michael Travis Duttlinger, infant great grandchildren Pearl and Connor James Duttlinger, mother- and father-in-law Charles and Theresa (Schiffgens) Duttlinger, brothers- and sisters-in-law Charles and Agnes (Jachim) Duttlinger, Sister Mary Herman (Dorothy) Duttlinger O.P., Ronald and Marie Mahieu, Clarence and Vivian (Kearney) Duttlinger, and Raymond and Carol (Wilson) Duttlinger.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:30 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church, Wheatfield, Indiana, with Father Paul Cochran & Father Dan Gartland officiating. Interment will follow at Sorrowful Mother Catholic Cemetery.
