76 year old Edward “Eddie” Shonk of DeMotte formerly of Hammond passed away March 1, 2013 with his loving family around him.
Eddie was born in East Chicago, Indiana on January 18, 1937 to the late Clinton and Anna (nee: Weinke) Shonk. Eddie married Sandra (Rush) on May 6, 1966 in East Chicago Indiana. Eddie was a printer, former owner of A-1 Union Graphics Inc. and was a member of the Chicago Typographical Union # 16. Was a delegate to the International Typographical Union conventions, Assistant Organizer, Assistant Editor Local Newsletter, Organizer, Delegate Chicago Federation of Labor, Delegate Illinois AFL-CIO, Trustee for Chicago Typographical Union No. 16. Eddie loved his family and enjoyed traveling throughout the west; he enjoyed his weekend trips to the casino. Enjoyed Jeff Gordon in the Nascar races. During the off-season he enjoyed watching football and basketball.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Shonk, his children Frances (Mark) Dickey, Harry Sulcer, Ralph Sulcer, Keith (Dana) Shonk and Michelle (John) Tovo, 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, 1 sister Delores (Tom) Firsich.
He is preceded in death by two daughters MaryAnn Shonk and Linda Hicks, one grandson Tylor Poczok, two sisters Frances and Audrey.
Friends our invited to visit with the family Tuesday March 5, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove Street, Wheatfield, IN. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the funeral home with John Dull JD speaker. Interment will follow in the Holland Cemetery.
