Douglas Cooper

65 year old, Douglas A. Cooper of Rensselaer, passed away March 28, 2023 with his loving family surrounding him.

On October 12, 1957, Doug was born to Merle Sr. and Norma (Smith) Cooper in Valparaiso, Indiana. Doug was a loader/operator at Morocco Sand and Gravel in Rensselaer. He was a tinkerer, who loved to work on cars and lawn mowers. Doug also, loved to fish. His greatest happiness in life was found spending time with his grandchildren, and keeping his family on their toes.

Doug is survived by his children: Daisy (Steven) Forrestall, Megan Dowell, 3 grandchildren: Jole, Noah, Bryer, siblings: Merle (Tamela) Cooper Jr., Charles Cooper, Kathy Cooper, Rodney Cooper, and many nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, nephews: James Cooper, William Subartowicz, and Anthony Subartowicz.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove Street, Wheatfield, with a Friends and Family led Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma or brain cancer research.
