86 year old, Derald ‘Snooky’ Magers of DeMotte passed away April 7, 2017.
Snooky was born on January 27, 1931 in Rensselear, Indiana to James and Marie (Hanaway) Magers. He was a lifetime area resident. He worked as an inspector at Standard Forge in East Chicago, Indiana for 18 years, while he worked as a self-employed painter contractor for 60 years, and a salesman who sold Awnings. Snooky was a member of the Son’s of the American Legion Post #440. He loved to fish, trapping, taking care of his yard, garden & swimming pool, playing tennis and he especially loved to ride roller coasters.
Derald is survived by his children: David (Jeannie) Magers, Donna Wireman, Charlotte (James) Goodwin, Karen (Dole) Crego, Randy Magers, Tina Stinson, Betty Stinson, & Roy Harrell, 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 5+ great-great-grandchildren, siblings: Shirlene Dreher and Sharon Ramirez.
Derald was preceded by his parents, first wife: Mytrle, second wife: Pat, son Ronald Magers, grandchildren: Heather Craft & James Goodwin Jr.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Snooky will take place at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 with Pastor Bob Rawlins officiating. Interment will follow at the DeMotte Cemetery.
