David L Czerniak

78 year old, David L. Czerniak, of Wheatfield, passed away at his home on January 10, 2022.

Dave was born on August 9, 1943, in Vancouver, Washington, to Stanley and Priscilla (Marshall) Czerniak. Dave served in the U.S. Navy. He married the love of his life, Georgia Detrick-Beres, on April 1, 1984, in Rensselaer, Indiana. Dave worked for NIPSCO as a lineman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #642 and Wheatfield American Legion #406. Dave was a 25+ year member of the Wheatfield Fire Department.

Dave is survived by his wife: Georgia, children: Donald (Sherry) Beres, Eugene (Stacey) Beres Jr., Scott Crawford, Michael (Bridgett) Beres, David Czerniak, and Kimberly Young, 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, siblings: Cathy ‘Cuppy’ (Dave) Emmel, Mary Elizabeth Czerniak, Stanley ‘Butch’ (Trish) Czerniak, and sister-in-law: Rose Bengston, and adopted children: Theresa (Brian) Smith.

Dave was preceded by his parents, brother: William Czerniak, sister Marcia ‘Marty’ Smith, brother-in-law: Rich Bengston.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E. Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Masonic Services will take place at 6:30 p.m. Services for Dave will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Bill Taylor, officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Wheatfield Fire Department.
