77 year old, David ‘Butch’ L. Land, of Bunker Hill, formerly of Chesterton, passed away March 20, 2020.
On July 8, 1942, Butch was born to Paul and Ruth (Fisher) Land in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Butch married the love of his life, Ruby (Leach) Land on March 22, 1967 in Cedar Lake, Indiana. He was a big Cub’s and Bear’s fan. He liked to bowl. Butch was a member of the Lion’s Club, and Jaycee’s Club. He also coached softball. He started Liberty Rec of Chesterton, Indiana.
Butch is survived by his children: David L. (Jennie) Land II, Rebecca (Ryan) Adams, 10 grandchildren: Michael D. Maxey, Austin D. Maxey, Duwain D. (Kaitlyn M) Wilson Jr., Kristina M. Maxey, Matthew J. Smith, Stephanie R. Land, Tiffany A. Land, Kaitlyn E. Smith, Rick L. Maxey, Tyler R.L. Adams, 1 great-grandchild: Garrett Mason, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Butch was preceded in death by his wife: Ruby Land, daughter: Ruth Land-Maxey, granddaughter: Teresa Land, parents: Paul & Ruth Land, brother: Gene Land, and sister: Sharon Conrad.
Per Butch’s wishes cremation will take place and he and his wife Ruby will be interred at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.
