69 year old, Daniel E. Gobin, of Wheatfield, passed away October 16, 2023.
Daniel was born on August 3, 1954, the son of Charles and Norma (Frets) Gobin, in Hammond, Indiana. Daniel married the love of his life, Patricia Beiswanger, who preceded him.
Daniel was retired from U.S. Steel Gary Works, as an iron worker for 31 years. Dan loved working on old cars. He also enjoyed taking an annual black bear hunting trip to Canada, in October. He liked to hunt deer, elk and bear in Montana and Iowa. Dan won many archery tournaments with his daughter, Nicole while she was growing up. He was co-owner of Sandy Hook Archery of Hebron. One of his favorite memories to share with friends was about getting the opportunity to shoot next to Terry and Michelle Ragsdale and Joella Bates at the State Tournament. Dan loved being silly and having fun. He would do anything to make you smile. Kristy was a very important part of Dan’s life. They were the best of friends and for the last few years, she has really been there for Dan, and it has been a blessing in his life. Dan’s greatest love of all, was his grandson, Jayson. The two of them had an unbreakable bond from the day Jayson was born.
Daniel is survived by his daughter: Nicole (Kevin) Merry, and grandson: Jayson Merry, siblings: Marsha (Gary) Graham, Donnie Gobin, Karen (Danny) Arnold, Wayne Kimes, and Mike Kimes, and special best friend: Kristy Dzur.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and wife: Patricia.
