Dan G. Allen

Dan Allen, 75 years old, of Wheatfield, passed away on February 3, 2025, at his home with his loving family around him.

On March 5, 1949, Dan was born to William and Gloria (Tucker) Allen in Corona, California. He graduated from Brea-Olinda High School, class of 1967. Dan served in the United States Army from 1969-1971 and was a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam. Dan married the love of his life, Sue Tillema, on April 14, 1972, in DeMotte, Indiana at the First Christian Reformed Church. He worked at Prospect Auto Supply for 18 years, before working as the manager at Lincolnway Auto Supply for 20 years. Dan volunteered for Mobility Ministries, and operated the scoreboard for basketball games at Kankakee Valley High School from 2019 until December 2024. He enjoyed travelling, camping, yard sales, card games, and was an avid bowler. Dan spent most of his life serving his community. He spent 46 years as a fireman on the Wheatfield Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as assistant chief and chief, and he was a driver for the Wheatfield EMS.

Dan is survived by his wife: Sue, sons: Michael (Allison Phillips) Allen, Randy (Shannon) Allen, grandchildren: Mackenzie, Kyleigh, Cooper, Chris, Rachel, siblings: Ron (Georgia) Allen, Steve (Ruth) Allen, Cathleen Richison, numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friend: Carol Moberg.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, and sister: Linda Allen.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 E Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Dan will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Alblas officiating. Interment will follow at the Wheatfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mobility Ministries or to the Wheatfield Volunteer Fire Department.
