Dale G. Hass 82 years young of DeMotte, passed away December 22, 2022, at St. Anthony's Medical Center of Crown Point, Indiana.
Dale was born on December 14, 1940 to Emil and Lois (Couse) Hass in Hammond, Indiana, and attended DeMotte High School. In Dale's early years, his family moved to DeMotte, which was his hometown since he was a child. He grew up on the 120 acre farm that his father purchased and continued to live on that property until his death. During his time in DeMotte, he worked the majority of his life in the maintenance department for Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad. Every evening after work, he would do what he loved best, which was to be outside. He worked the small farm with his first wife, Loretta, (Lori) Przewoznik Hass, who preceded him. Dale enjoyed playing cards and beating almost everyone at gin rummy, especially Ray Call. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and "can baggin". Dale attended Virgie Christian Church. Dale never met a stranger, and was a friend to anyone he ever met.
On June 3, 2000, Dale married Donna Simpson. Dale is survived by his wife: Donna, children and their spouses, Tom (Deb) Colbert, Larry (Janece) Hass, Julie (Norm) Fischer, Robin Hass, David M. (Tami) Hass, Shawna (Phil) Drennen, step-children: Barbara (Mike) Weis, Gloria Sparger, Richard Simpson, Jonathan (Jennifer) Simpson, 26 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Dale was preceded by Emil & Lois Hass, and his brother: David A. Hass.
Per Dale's wishes cremation will take place, and a Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
