Conley Smith

Conley Smith passed away on August 16, 2022, after a long and courageous battle against COPD. He was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School. Conley was a 50-year member of the Glenn Park Masonic Lodge. He retired in 1986, from U.S. Steel, at age 50 after working 32 years.

Conley and Joan spent 29 winter vacations in Texas playing golf "8 days a week.” His long game and Joan’s short game made for a great scramble team. They still maintain years-long friendships.

Conley’s passions were family first as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, traveling, hunting, fishing, and trapshooting and winning many competitions. He and Joan were avid pinochle players.

Conley is survived by his loving wife: Joan of 64 years, sons: Douglas (Druanne), Howard (Kathy) and Steven; 9 grandkids and 7 great-grandkids (with 2 more due soon), and siblings: Carolyn (Bruce) Garrison, Wayne (Theresa) Smith, and William (Diana) Smith.

Our special thanks to Hospice Care “Angels” Ceara Burton and Dorothy Amos. Conley called them his "Rays of sunshine.” Their visits were the highlights of his day. His love of life and people touched many that will dearly miss him.
