Clara Bell Long

91 year old, Clara Bell Long, of Wheatfield, passed away September 21, 2018.

On December 6, 1926, Clara was born to Jesse and Jennie (Thornton) Crawford in Goreville, Illinois. Clara met the love of her life Irvin Long in a snowstorm and they married on May 8th, 1954, in New Mexico. She taught second grade Sunday School, and was a devout Christian. Clara was a homemaker who Betty Crocker could take lessons from; she was a seamstress, gardener, and she canned the fruits of her labors.

Clara is survived by her husband: Irvin, daughters: Jenny (Chuck) Williams, Rebecca (Jason) Gordon, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one brother: Bill (Clairus) Pritchett.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, step-father: Harry Pritchett, son: David R. Long, brother: John C. Crawford, and sisters: Armalea Merriman, and Maxine Crawford.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Boersma Funeral Home, 90 East Grove St., Wheatfield, Indiana. Services for Clara will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Shawn Evans officiating.
